404 - Movie Review

It's an average movie only with a relatively new concept for bollywood. The plot somewhere, for me, was similar to 'Shutter Island'. The biggest problem with the movie is its pace, it's damn slow to be termed as a good thriller, or in other words, we can say, this could have been a really good one if it was a Short Movie. The other problem is its budget, there are hardly 10-15 students we can see in the whole movie, except a few class scenes, the place which is actually shown as a College, where there are supposed to be at least 100 students, which leads us to find more and more students around the lead characters while Abhimanyu is searching for Gaurav.

Good things? yes, there are plenty of good things also, main one being performances. Out of all, Imaad Shah wins the tag of best performer of the movie, excellent. Another good thing about the movie is, there is no song added to the movie.

Screenplay was weak, and too ordinary. For example, in pre-climax scene, a dialogue is spoken, "Uske sath koi safe nahin hain" and you wait for something to happen, any viewer mind will think some murder gonna happen after listening to that dialogue for sure, but no, nothing like dat happens, instead, very ordinarily, the secret unfolds, which is quite expected. But yea, the last scene of the movie is good, really good, but as said above, it could have been the best thing the director could have done to the climax of a Short Movie.

Most of the scenes in the movie look hurriedly inserted, where you can pick any scene from anywhere, and put it at some other place, and yet, there wont be any difference in the movie.

This genre excites me like hell, but this movie has hardly some of them, or maybe there are none?

Overall, i wont term it as a bad movie, being one of a lot of few ones, this one surely is not a movie to be neglected, must be given a chance for sure, despite a fact that it disappoints, because of performances, and a few more reasons.

Movie: 2.5/5 [By the 70mm Raju Rastogi - Nilay Shah]

Additional Review with love by the70mm Farhan

After watching this movie...
I must say its really made very well..movie reminded me of Hollywood hits like Shutter Island, A Beautiful Mind etc.

Performances are very good. Imad shah is best as always...
New comer rajvvir arora has also done very well & in last, Nishikant kamat...what can i say man... he stills the whole show...

Story was quite predictable for me...but its execution was very good...

My rating...3.45/5
Must watch for movie lovers...

Bhindi Bazaar INC: Review

With love from 70mm FARHAN
.

Story: Set in the underbelly of Mumbai; in the notorious by-lanes where 'Greed is a Culture' and 'Deceit becomes a Compulsion' 'Bhindi Baazaar Incorporation' revolves around gangs of pickpockets who consider pick pocketing as an art. They use their intelligence as a canvas and their spontaneity as a brush to survive in this dangerous lively hood. 'Bhindi Baazaar Inc.' is the story of a pawn and his calculated moves to reach the end of the chessboard. Revolving around a crime syndicate who are in the business of pickpocket, the film starts with a game of chess between two characters 'Shroff' and 'Darzi'. Each move unfolds their story and eventually the motive of their meeting. The story unravels the quest of a small time pickpocket 'Fateh' next in line to be a MAMU (local area-head). The screenplay underlines the gritty politics, hierarchy, rules, commands, intelligence, wit and betrayal within the business. (Courtesy:IMDB)
.
Absolutely you will go with too much expectation as the movie is having good and fabulous actors like Kay Kay Menon, Pavan Malhotra, Piyush Mishra, Dipti Naval, Prashant Narayan (Chhal fame) & Shilpa Shukla. Even there is Jackie Shroff as a cameo. But while watching you will feel that they have wasted this much good actors as director can get career best acting from that and they have proved that before many times.

.

But still movie is not also that bad as the story goes somewhat different and unpredictable at some places. In starting you will also like direction and camera angels but they becomes normal which are in every crime based movies.

.

In acting department kay kay doesn’t have much role but done his part well. Pavan 7 Piyush does well but haven’t given much footage. Dipti naval was also not used. Jackie shroff does his part well but its too short. Parashant Narayan is as expected simply best choice but can give much more than this. Shilpa’s role is too short. New-comer Gautham verma does ok but was looking like he is doing acting. We can say he wasn’t into the role.

.

From this I will say that if any director thinks that by taking this much good actors and with good script movie can be made remarkable and masterpiece then Bhindi Bazaar INC. is best example for that director as one have to work on their characters also.

.

.

FARHAN’s Rating : 2.95mm from 5mm

(One time watchable on dvd)

.

What I loved…

Loved some dialogues…

“Game ke bahar pata nahi chalta ki kaun se mohrey kaale hain aur kaun se mohrey safed…”

.

“Har aur jeet se koi fark nahi padta ye jarur kisi haarne wale hi likha hoga kyunki har koi jeetne ke liye khelta hai…”

Rango : Movie Review

An open letter to character Rango..

Dear Mr. Rango or whatever may be your real name,

Howdy?

Well, a mr. no body who is a big loser, fakes to be a hero in a small town and then becomes a real hero by changing himself, is not really a new story, it is told 1000 a times in hollywood or in bollywood, but frankly we always enjoy and love that kind of story for sure. And in ur case, four things makes your movie a bit more special. 1: You are a chamaleon !!! 2. The cowboy kinda environment 3. Yours and your mate's funny dialgoues 4. Your voiceover by Johnny Depp.

Loved director's approach to the subject and specially surprised and loved to see 'the spirit of the west'. :)

Though, i would have loved it if it had madness of Madagaskar or Ice Age series (the director doesnt use the fun of chamaleon changing the colors more after some first parts otherwise that could be interestingly funny :P), but though, it's a fantastic movie for sure.

Wish more and more people meet u and u dont find ur self alone again..

3.15 cheers for the film.

P.S. Those 4 musicians were gr8.. :)

Hangover Part 2: Movie Review

Hangover Part 2: Movie Review

An open letter to sequel lover audience...

Dear Friends,

Oh! It happended again!!!

Hangover Part 1 Story: Stu is getting married and his friends Phil & Doug have planned bachelor party at Las Vegas. Coz of Doug's girlfriend's request, Alan is added to the group. Alan mixes Roofies to their drink at night, and they dont remember what happened at night. Next day they found that they are in some crazy situation, their friend Doug is lost (Doug is kept as Ransom by some gangster), there is a tiger in their room. As they dont remember a shit out of their last night's mis ventures, they try to figure out. They find out that last single night they did things that one might not try in whole life.

Hangover Part 2 Story: Stu is getting married again, this time at Thailand. His friends Phil & Doug have planned bachelor party at Thailand. Coz of Doug's girlfriend's request, Alan is added to the group. Even there's Teddy who is added to group, coz he is future brother-in-law of Stu. Alan mixes Marshmallows to their drink at night, and they dont remember what happened at night. Next day they found that they are in some crazy situation in Bangkok, they doubt their friend Doug who is not found may be lost as last time, but fortunately he is not, but unfortunately Teddy is lost, (Teddy is kept as Ransom by some Gangster), there is monkey in their room. As they dont remember a shit out of their last night's mis ventures, they try to figure out. They find out that last single night they did things that one might not try in whole life. (here is the weak point - they have did it last time yaar, and that too situations were funnier than this time)

Found the stories same to same?? yeah it is. So, Hangover 2, is not as exciting as it's first offering. Though, there is fun. The situations are funny, the actors are in form again, the film is not at all boring for a single second, and this is the big positive point. Dialogues and one liners are quite funny, but were much more funnier in part 1, and here viewer misses that part for sure.

Over all, Hangover - 2 is nice one time watch for sure, dont know whether one would like to watch it again or not.

3.10 cheers for the film.

The President Is Coming: Movie Review

dear kunal roy kapoor,

i didn't know that you have directed this movie, until i finished it, and then i watched this thread. though, read your name in director's credit, it didn't clicked to my mind that, oh.. this kunal roy kapoor is the same guy who's one of the Delhi Belly trio.. gr8 man.

coming back to the film, The President is Coming, is totally rocking movie.. just loved it.

since a long time, i was waiting to watch this movie.. just watched it and couldn't wait to write u a letter. the movie is awesomely funny, and now i m waiting to watch Delhi Belly with a bit more curiosity.

taunts on Bush, America, Blind American Followers in India, sadistic so-called social workers of India, hyped PR agencies in India, Gujarati Stock Brokers, Geeky gay Software Engineers.. everything was so hilarious.. superb.

All actors gave brilliant performances. koko, anand tiwari and namit das steals the show. vivek gombiar was fantastic too. Shernaz Patel, Shivani Tankshale, Sachit Puranik & Ira Dubey gave great support.

Dialogues were awesome and the theme was brilliant.

I generally, dont like Hinglish movies that much, coz most of them makes fun of India and that too with limited knowledge, but this one is a must watch.

4 cheers for the movie...

Bhejafry-2 : Review

By: 70mm FARHAN
.
Story: Bharat Bhushan (Vinay Pathak) returns for another misadventure, this time as a TV reality show contestant who ends up winning big money and a luxurious cruise. So on the cruise, he meets high society folk and executives and the misfit that he is, he manages to bhejafry a few influential people. One of them being Ajit Talwar (Kay Kay Menon) who sees personally to the sending off of Bharat from the cruise liner as he comes to know they he is an Income tax officer.
.
With what expectation will you go with when you are going to watch bhejafry-2? You will expect that movie will be totally hillarious and bhejafry and with full of whitty dialogues as Bhejafry was. But movie falls down from the expectation which bhejafry has created.Bhejafry was the smart movie and has comedy due to its smart dialouges. While this movie is have not such dialogues. It is somewhat funnier at some places due to situations.
.
Vinay pathak is successful in bhejafry at some places like when he shows his pocket full of all needy instrument, all advices start with "pitaji kaha karte the" and songs for all the occasion. But still it misses the touch of funnier and mind blasting dialogues of bhejafry. Even at some places vinay looks overacted but still he has done good job.
.
Kay Kay Menon manages his part well but his part should be made somewhat more interesting as was made of Rajjat Kapoor. Minnisha lamba is just for timepass as she doesn't have much importance but we can see her singing and can see her voice is also good in a singing so can see her singing in future but it doesnot have any connection with movie so leave it.
.
Amol Gupte was ok and haven't expected much from him but was able to do much good.Suresh menon was sucking as was expected.Ruksaar was also having not any importance.
.
I Will say to director Sagar Ballary that don't miss your touch in upcoming movies from now which was scene in Bhejafry though it was a copy of any other movie. Will expect something good from next time. I only loved specially the concept of your song "O raahi".
.
Overall we can say that movie was no where near Bhejafry. Its just as other comedy film which you can avoid watching in theatre and can see in DVD also. Those who like situation comedies like Golmaal-2, Dhamaal, Housefull may be like this movie somewhat.
.
.
.
FARHAN gives 2 mm from 5 mm.
(One watch without much expectation is ok for Vinay Pathak lovers.)

Shagird : Movie Review

an open letter to director Tigmanshu Dhulia:

hello mr. director,

i have been loving your films till date. i loved haasil a lot, i remember Irrfan Khan swapping all the awards for best actor in villanious role category in each award function that year. It was a superb student political thriller. i also loved your next product Charas, despite viewers and critics bashing it badly. i think it was a fantastic fast paced narco-thriller. Again Irrfan Khan did a gr8 job. Then dont know why you vanished  from the industry. People discussed you were doing Ghayal 2, Pan Singh Tomar and Shagird. Dont know why now Ghayal 2 is directed by Ashwini Dheer and what is the status of Pan Singh Tomar, but here is your outing after a lots of year, and that's Shagird.

This time you have not repeated your regular Irrfan Khan and Jimmi Shergil combo, and we have Nana Patekar and Mohit Ahlawat, and we dont mind that, though i believe Jimmi Shergil could do much better job in role of Mohit Kumar (Mohit Ahlawat), but as i said, i dont mind that, what i mind is that you have lost a bit of your touch too, with passed time. Though, the film is very good and i loved watching it too, but falls a bit weak to my expectations from you, that's it.

Nana Patekar as Hanumant Singh is terrific, loved his style of rendering Director, Actor, Actress, Film and Music Director's name after listening to any old song in the movie, simply rocking. :)

Mohit Ahlawat as Mohit Kumar is also very good, he looks quite innocent wherever required. Rimi Sen as reporter is strictly okay. Zakir Hussain and Anurag Kashyap are fantastic. What steals the show is dialogues and rough direction. The story has some flaw but is gripping for sure. [spoiler] i felt i would have loved the film if in last Mohit Kumar would have lived after giving some share to Hawala person, that would have called true Shagird.

Moreover i found promos to be misleading. From the promo, one feels Nana Patekar as honest police officer, which he is not.

Well, that's it, i loved that there weren't any songs, which were not at all required for this sattire. I hope you would make more films in future, and give us treasure to watch.

3 cheers for the film. [3/5]

X-Men First Class: Review

By: 70mm FARHAN (Brij)
.
Story: In 1962, Charles Xavier(Professor-X) starts up a school and later a team, for humans with superhuman abilities. Among them is Erik Lensherr(Magneto), his best friend... and future archenemy.
.
The movie was totally fun.Even i can say that this was a smart movie. Its an example that how u can make an enjoyable movie without any big star cast and high stunt scenes.
.
Each single scene and the script at each place was worked out very well to connect it with its all the parts.
.
Acting of everybody was very good specially
James Macovy (charles) & Michael fassbender (Erik). Still they could make it much more interesting by putting climax fight Kevin Bacon (Shaw) but as i said they are smart so don't put everything in a single part.
.
.
FARHAN Rating - 3.8/5
.
Must watch for X-men series lovers in theatre only. and who dont love or havent watched any X-men movie will also love it but i will recommend to watch all 3 parts before watching this one.

Ready - Review

An open letter to Sallu..

Dear Sallu,
Congrats, i think now u have understood what paying audience want from you.
You did it in Wanted, you did it again in Dabangg and this time, u had story to tell us too.. it's a well-made movie.
Your style, your dialogue delievery, your expressions everything was fantastic, you were the heart of the movie, and if the movie is enjoying such a gr8 success, it's definitely due to you, but one shouldn't forget Asin, who was best suited for the role. She did perfect justice to the role
providing super support to you in every aspect.
Story, Screenplay and Direction was very good and didn't let audience bore for a minute. Some Dialogues were quite hilarious, but yeah, dialogues could be more funny in times, which could have make the movie in my top 20 favorite indian comedy movies, but unfortunately it doesnt. Anyways, it was a decent timepass movie, and i am surely gonna watch it again.
Supporting cast was fine enough, Paresh Rawal steals the show among them. As expected Dhinka Chika and Character Dheela rocked. The end credit version of Dhinka Chika was mast too.
Hope you do more such movies which have content too instead of Dabangg which was only Sallu film, as if it is only Sallu film again and again, only fans are gonna enjoy it and rest audience would be bored with 2-3 more such films. Hope for the best. Best luck.
u rock.
regards,
a film fan, the 70mm RAM

3.5 cheers for the film (3.5/5)

P.S. That "Ghaas to Sukh Gaya" and Pee Break & then Tea Break theme was fantastic.
