Murder 2: Double Movie Review

By the 70mm Farhan – Brijesh Raychanda

When you are going to watch sequel of murder you will expect steamy and hot scenes and revenge are extra marital affair story nothing else. But Mohit suri fails you when you go to watch this movie as he has many more things to show you and make the movie much more interesting.

Story: Arjun Bhagwat (Emraan Hashmi) leaves his job as a police officer and changes track to assume odd roles for favouring the operations of the criminals in Goa. An uncertain atheist, Arjun lacks commitment towards his ‘aadat’ Priya (Jacqueline Fernandez) for reasons that have increased the duration of the movie unnecessarily by a few good minutes. A particular assignment from a pimp involves Arjun directly and indirectly with a psychopathic serial killer Dheeraj Pandey (Prashant Narayan) and an innocent college-going Reshma (Sulagna Panigrahi) respectively. Arjun blames himself for hatching the plan to contrive Reshma as the carrot to reach the killer and the remorseful him leaves no stones unturned to punish the murderer.

The movie is much dark and can say violent in many scenes but it was necessary for story even from my point of view there should be more violent scenes to show the level of psycho and make his impact on audience.

Surprise package for me was Prashant Narayan. He acted fabulously. He carried whole movie on his burden and make it much interesting. Still he needed some more length in his role to grab best villain role of this year. He was looking horrible when he was singing “Bheege honth”. In first part “Bheege honth” song was as erotic and seducing while in this it was used for thrilling.

Emraan hashmi has done many similar roles like this. He was not that impressive. His role was also not that good as he catches villain easily and even killes also easily. Jacqueline Fernandez was also ok as she don’t have to do much except some steamy scenes. Jacqueline is nowhere nearer to mallika in steamy scenes.

Story was also different as killer was revealed in starting only. Because of that we thought movie will loose its grip, But it didn’t loose its grip. All credits goes to Director Mohit suri. Music was not that appealing like Murder.

My rating  -  3.15/5
(One time watch for thrilling performance by Prashant Narayan)

An open letter to Emraan Haasmi from the 70mm Rancho,

Dear Serial Killer (or kisser however you like),

You have murdered before, and hence this is your another experience murdering. And what best you can expect, that this one is better than the previous one. Yeah, Murder 2 is quite better than it’s prequel, Murder. Though, not sexually, but storically and performance wise, this one is quite better.

I am quite lot impressed by your cousin Mohit Suri – director of M2. He has done fabulous job with his previous consignments like Zeher, Kalyug, Wo Lamhe, Awarapan and Raaz2. He is a fantastic story teller and never loses grip from the film. This letter could be addressed to him, but then I dropped it for his later superior works. In this movie, like the previous part of the murder franchise, he could have used more skin show and more desperate sex scenes (and have collected more amount of boxoffice money for producers) but he avoided it coz he wanted the relation between priya and arjun to be more deeper than only sex oriented attraction like M1. Kudos! He concentrated on the crime part of the story made it quite a thrilling which it was meant to be. Made the character Dheeraj Pandey so scary and fantastic, that it chilled our nerves.

And here comes one of other person from whom I m quite impressed since lot – Prashant Narayan. From Chhal or Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2 days, I always expect him to have a big break and be appreciated and known by public, but he is not getting his due since then. He bags a good role and implies full justice to the role in M2. Though, this letter is not meant to be for him, as his best is yet to come.

This letter is meant to you, not coz this film is best of yours, no it is definitely not. But this film let me think one thing, that why Emran Hasmi doing same and same roles of same and same characters with same and same performances and expression.  When you are going to watch an emran hashmi film, expect him to smooch heroines, get them laid sensationally, be always almost in confidence but in constant pain of something, constantly luring for don’t know what and recently not believing in Gods. (Jawani Deewani was a bit exception) Yeah, those kinda roles suit you the best, but one should try something different too for audience’s pleasure. Hoping for the same.

Your uncle’s camp has acted smartly with Raaz & Murder franchises. They haven’t made sequels and make their scopes limited. Instead now people know a suspense horror kinda film from bhatt camp can be of Raaz franchise and a crime thriller from Bhatt camp can be Murder franchise, this can be a smart strategy business wise, though many of sequel lovers would like them to be proper sequels. Anyways, a good film is always welcome. And for me, M2 and R2 both were quite better than their first parts. Only thing that M2 lacks is strong female character that was there in M1. Jackquilene had nothing to do in the film apart from some audience pleasing scenes.

3.25 cheers for the film.

A film fan – the 70mm Rancho – Hardik Raychanda

P.S.Watch it for Dheeraj Pandey.

P.S.S. It is not at all a who-done-it kinda suspense film, it’s a thriller.
