LUV SHUV TE CHICKEN KHURANA

Bit confused  from where to start, but cannot stop myself  from praising Huma Qureshi..!! Just in love  with her  even more  after this  movie.!- True story !

Anyways coming to the movie, first of all good cast assembly. All the actors  performed  quite  well and  never made  the movie  seem a  bore. Kunal kapoor  was  really good to watch, and  the  typical Punjabi language  and accent just added  to the fun. One actor that just performed flawlessly was  Tittu mama- Rajesh Sharma. He was  just too humorous  and  witty, and a  pleasure  to watch. Darji was  also good, though he had  very less  dialogues.

The  story shows a  young boy’s strong will to go to UK (against that of his family), but is forced to come  back to India, so that he  can make  up his  debts and  go back, but eventually ends  up in something different.

The  picturisation of typical Punjabi atmosphere  of the family and viallge was  really good, and  totally makes  you seem very Punjabi.! The  screenplay was  also quite  well written, but just felt that in the  phase  where Omi –Harman love  story “re-builds” , the negligence of  jeet’s presence wasn’t quite  digestable as it was quite a long time  of screen presence. And also the  end  was  a  bit weak, as  the  family accepts a  few things  without any aggression or opposition. I mean when you show everything  of the typical Punjabi flavour, you cannot leave  the  jattism when it comes  to family matters. And  also the guest appearance  of dolly ahluwalia was  worth its  screen space.! As  in Vicky Donor, here  also she  did great justice  to her  role and surely made h er  presence count.

And  yes, one  scene  that was  just too good and  that made  me  replay it again and  again was  the kiss of Huma  Qureshi. I mean it wasn’t something cheesy, or  vulgar or seductive  that we  usually see  in movies. It was  just out  of an urge and  it just beautifully showcased the  temptation rising between the two and the feelings  of  a  typical girl who is  finding herself  falling for the  guy but situations  constrain her.. Aah well.. I will stop here, else i would  write a whole  review  on the kiss  itself..!

All in all a  good  movie, and  definitely worth watching once.. After a  wrong choice  of Aiyya, AK made a  good choice  by producing this  one..!

My Rating : 3.27/5

Review: MANORAMA- SIX FEET UNDER

Waaow...! This  is some  real grasping stuff..! Hats off to the script-writer.

On one  hand, i was feelling pitty that I had  watched  race 2 , as  it failed  badly to even surprise me  to the slight, while  years  back, movies  like this are made, that leave  you completely awestruck.!

At first it felt as  if  the movie was going bit slow, but never  seemed a  bore. And  whenever  there
is any writer  stuff  involved , it makes  be  that little  extra interested  in it. And it was totally amazing, to see one  of  my favourite and a  very versatile actor, Abhay deol being cast as a writer, and  that too with that essence of philosophy in him. Just loved  him.!

The dialogues in the movie , though not punchy as  like  crappy shit of Dabbang, are  really good.
And the  picturisation is just fabulous. The scene where  he lays  stranded  in the  sand, after being hit badly and  robbed  by the two gundaas made  me capture  a screen shot of it.And  mentioning of dacoits, it makes  me  mention another  name that turned  out  to be a surprise  yet again. Nawazuddin siddique. Not having any major  role, yet he  never fails to make  his  screen presence  count, and  was  really surprised to see  him in his  typical –Faizalish ,so called ‘dominating’ character in the movie. The guy is a grasper.!

A few scenes that contain hidden, philosophical messages  or  indirect indications  add  to the gist of the movie.  Vinay pathak has  performed  his role  of brother –in-law quite  fairly and  has  given great justice  to his role and  dialogues.  Gul panag too was  a sweet fit  as  Nimi, with typical house wife dressing and  the typical wifish nature that really sometimes  beats the  shit out of any husbands temperament. Just felt that, the Rohtak trip was  made  a  bit too long, and  Nimi’s  absence could  have  been reduced  by a bit.
And  well, the rest of  the  journey tastes  best when served  undisclosed. :p

However , the movie was  greatly directed, and  was  bit surprised when such a  movie  didn’t get neither  any fame among people nor  box  office  collections. And it just frustrates  me  more  at times that why are  people still being engaged  just to sheer crap, that is neither  a  fairytale to amaze  you, nor  any great acting.. And  thats what works  as  the  killing pill, for  such brilliant scripting  and acting heads.  And once  again, full marks  to Abhay deol’s script selection.  A very subtle  script and so was the acting. Just loved  the dialogues  that he  said in the  background, though its credit goes  completely to the  writers, but Abhay’s  voice  and style  of delivering was  what added  to the  philosophy and  grasp to them.  As its said  in the film, “thodi si saavdhaani, zindagi bhar asaani”. Likewise  goes  with Abhay, a  little  care in choosing the scripts, and a  lifelong satisfaction to the self of having done a great deed and  justice  to his profession.!

All in all a  beautifully woven story and script. And a  must watch...!!

My Rating : 4.23/5

Matru Ki Bilee Ka Mandola - Triple Review

MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA - TRIPLE REVIEW
__________________________________________________

Well, firstly from the trailers  i suspected  the movie  to be  not  so good or  to be  some  usual cliché.
But indeed  the movie  turned  out  to be  quite  something different and interesting, enjoyable  one.
Understood  something in the  last minutes  of the  movie..
We all are  Matrus, young people with knowledge, enthusiasm, and ambitions or can say Bijlees.  But especially in India we  see that our bijlees are  being pupated by Mandolas. And  we  often render  helpless infront of them. The Mandolas  aren’t that bad  either. In one  way or  the  other  they too are  working towards  the  same  goal of striving for  the betterment of the society, but its  those  times  when personal selfishness  takes over a socialist. The  only thing that needs  to be  done  in today’s India is  to just give a slight awakening to the  Mandolas (the top 1% of our population)and  the revolution that we all are yelling for  everyday can be  reached.

Coming to the  movie, once  again absolute pleasure in watching Pankaj kapoor  perform flawlessly.
HE was  just too good  in his  character, sheer master  at his  job. Imran khan too was  good  as  the  Matru, in a  different look and adopted  the village accent nicely. Also , though not being  such a huge fan of  Anushka  have to say that she  was  indeed a 3 phase current.! The  scene where  she  comes out of the  pond  was  just too hot..! And  cool tattoos  as  well.! She  tried  to do justice  to her screen space and  succeeded to quite a good  extent..! good  work girl!

The  screenplay written by sir Vishal bhardwaj himself  was  excellent. Great cinematography some  scenes  were  quite well captured and  also  great selection of  locations , Gujarat always  remains  the ideal place  for  such directors..! The  palace was  awesomely picturised.. Being from the  town of a palace and  knowing how  their  present  situation is, must say they did quite a hard work in showing the palace  way more  beautiful than the visitors witness on a  usual glance.!
A few  things  that added  to the  pleasure  were, the royal enfield  of  Matru, just awesome..!
secondly the field  and  the top from where they watch it..  Another  thing was  the entire  business vision which was  too good and was excellently shown .

Just felt that towards the interval and  for a time after it, there  was along phase  where neither  Matru nor Mandola  were  shown in their usual aspects which couldn’t be  accepted owing to the track of the film.  And “ MAO” was  quite predictable, instead  could  have  shown something better.

However, Sir Vishal bhardwaj did succeed in showing the  political and  corruptive faces  of  India in a Hat ke  style and  the movie has a really good sense  of humour as  and  when needed.!
And  lastly my fav dialogue from the film : “jab dil saandh ho na  toh har ladki bhains  nazar aati hain” :P :D
My rating : 3.6/5

Movie Review: Matru ki Bijli ka Mandola (2013)

Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj Starring: Pankaj Kapoor, Immran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Shabana Aazmi

An Open Letter to Actor Pankaj Kapoor

Dear Pankajsaab,

It was totally delicious to watch you as Mandola. And hence, after a lots of thinking about ‘to-whom-to-write-this-letter’, I decided upon you instead of director VB.

I have always loved your previous works like Dharm, Maqbool, The blue umbrella, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Jabaan Sambhaalke, Office Office and many many more, but this one is just so delicious.

The film is a weirdly funny take upon the politics of India, SEZs, farmers’ problems, villagers’ innocence, struggle of a royal industrialist about right and wrong, revolution of a young literate villager, masti of a bindaas young girl and many things more. The director talks all this serious issues with much more humorous ways compared to any previous intentional comedy movies.

From the starting only, the statutory warning sequence and song was hilarious. It’s the sarcasm at it’s best. Kudos to VB for that. And then your own revolutionary song against your self !! wah.. mazaa aa gaya… (TM: Divs Sir) and ending with the title song everything I found quite delightful.

My fav scenes were:
1.      Statutory Warning
2.      Revolution against own
3.      Gulaabi bhains
4.      African’s intro
5.      The well scene
6.      Plane jala to cigarette jala scene
7.      Shabaana’s speech regarding politics
8.      Mandola’s industrial dream
9.      Hooka’s city visit
10.  Rain breaking dreams

What I didn’t like was that there were some flaws, like why Mandola doesn’t notice Matru’s open support to villagers. Matru doesn’t disclose the Mao identity first to all villager’s and then doesn’t try to hide it post interval without any revealing sequences. Also Arya Babbar was quite annoying, could have been replaced.
Other actors apart from You, Immran, Anushka and Shabana hadn’t much to do. Some sequences like Arya’s “Mao Mao” scene or Matru-Bijli’s swimming pool scene could have been avoided.

Performance wise it was Decent Matru ki Okay Bijli ka Fabulous Mandola. I mean, Immran was quite decent, his role of revolutionary down to earth villager boy was cool, especially when he meets his city colleague, he became cooler. Anushka was good, but looking into her history of similar roles, she became okay. Arya Babbar as mentioned before, was crap. Shabaana was fantastic but it was you who took the cake in both Harry and Hariya's role. Yes, we love Hariya and hate Harry - and that's what you wanted.

Music by the director is well in tone with the movie theme, loved most of the songs. Lyrics by Gulzar is fantastic as well.

On the whole, it has some flaws, and on box-office, it’s not going to be magical at all, it’s not at all at par with your previous films also, but still it’s a good treat for couple of watches.

4.15 cheers out of 5 from me.

Regards,

Review:  Matroo ki Bijli ka Mandola

By The 70mm Sardar Khan (Urf Brijesh Raychanda)

Name the films of vishal bhardwaj and you will surely go to watch the movie same happened with us yesterday. Everyone in our home even my niece (who is only 8 year old) was excited to watch Gulabi Bhains on big screen which resulted in first day last show seats filled with us.

Story:  Harry is an industrialist who loves his daughter Bijlee, and the bond they share with Harry's man friday, Matru. Bijlee's plan to wed the son of a politician, however, brings twists and turns in the lives of Matru, Bijlee and Mandola. (Courtesy to IMDB)

Movie was a good take on what happens with farmers in India because of politicians and Industrialists with funniest angle and with full of entertainment. Some scenes were hilariously funny while some were full of drama and social messages. Only Vishal Bhardwaj can do this.

Acting:  Hats off to Pankaj Kapoor. He has proved always his abilities in different roles in many movies and even in direction also he has done fabulous job (Yeah I am talking about Mausam. Don’t get me wrong, I just loved some of the scenes of movie not whole movie.:D :P). Everyone was waiting for him to turn into Mandola then Harry. His expressions, Dialogues, Voice, Tone, Body language was excellent and which made him irreplaceable.
Imran khan has managed his role very well. He was looking decent as Matroo (Hookam Singh). Cheers for your hard work. Anushka Sharma has given justice to his role. (Excluding his over-acted part when she was drunk and in swimming pool scene……Yo MAMA sucks…) Shabana aazmi was great in villainous role but still she needed more screen presence to prove her.
Arya babbar was ok in starting but upto end he resulted in more than over acting. (About you I can say you are lucky that great directors like Maniratnam, Vishal Bhardwaj etc are giving you roles so do hardwork man….. Yo MAMA sucks more than Anushka.)

Director:  Vishal bhardwaj tussi great ho..!!! (Inspired from God tussi great ho..!!). I loved your imagination of Mandola character it was excellent. From this movie you have proved that you don’t have to rely on others for the story. Don’t getting more words for you sir ji.

Story, Screenplay & Music: In story your work was appreciable. Screenplay by Abhishek Chaubey was really great as it was really tough job in this one. Music was mind blowing again credit goes to Vishal Bhardwaj. All songs were great (Excluding Lootnewaale song… still working on it.) In BGM, Shara-ra was great. Loved your Idea of introducing African music, It was great.

Weak Points Of Movie:
There was no necessary to put Pen cho-Pen cho at all time whenever Mandola drinks…
Mao scene were also weak..
Operation Mao-Mao scene & Bijli-Matroo swimming pool scene were unnecessarily kept…

SpeciaL RequesT:
Pankanj kapoor, please come more often in movies.
Imraan khan, Do more hard work like this.
Anushka Sharma, You have done excellent dance in songs so do more excellent work in acting department also so “Hum dekh sake tumhe vo bhi Pyaar se..”.
Shabana Azmi, Love you in all movies please come often and more and more in villainous role.
Arya babbar, Act well as you acted in Guru.
Vishal Bhardwaj, No request just work more on the editing of your movie.

Favourite scenes:
Statutory warning scene…(Most hilarious and craziest scene)
Scene whenever Gulabo & Gulabi bhains were there…
Whenever Pankaj kapoor comes in Mandola’s avatar…
Kuve ko Cow tak pahochaane wala scene…
Shabana’s dialogue about country…
Factory visualization scene…

 Favorite Dialogues:
“Tumhe aise dekh ke pura gaanv raat ko vyayam kare se…”
“Oy jab dil sandh ho na, to har ladki bhains dikhti se…”

Last take on the review: GO TO WATCH PANKAJ KAPOOR, IMRAN KHAN, VISHAL BHARDWAJ, GULABO  & GULABI BHAINS

My rating – 4.05/5

(Must go for funniest and hilarious ride of GULABI BHAINS!!!)

The Campaign (2012) - Movie Review

Movie Review: The Campaign (2012)

Directed by Jay Roach Starring: Will Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis

An Open Letter to Director Jay Roach

Dear director,

Since the first time, I watched the promo of this movie on IMDB, I was waiting for this film. Actor Will Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis together would be surely a great reason to watch the movie.

Well, the movie was not as much great as I expected it to be, but surely a very decent time pass for sure. Also within the comedy it sends a strong message to the politicians.

The movie is about a congressman Cam Brady(Will Ferrel) who is a good-for-nothing showoff politician and his ex-classmate Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis) who is a big loser who stands in election to be the congressman. Industrialists’ hidden interests (though shown quite childishly in the film, as needed in comedy film) behind the campaign and everything.

Performance wise, Will Ferrel and Zach Galifianakis never lets you down, both are mad mad actors. The film though, doesn’t take very well to where it needed to be. Unlike your previous projects Austin Powers or Meet the Folkers, this one doesn’t let audience laugh a lot, that’s it.

3.15 cheers out of 5 from me.

Salt n' Pepper (2011) - Movie Review

Movie Review: Salt n’ Pepper

Directed by Aashiq Abu Starring: Lal, Shweta Menon, Mythili and Asif Ali

An Open Letter to director Aashiq Abu

Dear director,

How are you doing? I am basically a gujarati and cant understand a single world from Malayalam/Tamil/Telugu language. Though, after watching some regional movies of south, I regularly follow and watch them. When I was reading an article about top 5 malyalam movies of 2012, your “22 Female Kottayam” was listed in it. And I came to know that you have directed a v good film named Salt n’ Pepper previously, and hence watched it.

The movie is about a man - Kalidas who is foodie right from the childhood, and a woman - Maya who is equally in love with food coz it reminds her of her mother, and how both of them came in to touch with each other. Both of them can’t be called boy and girl coz they have almost crossed 40s. Both of them are not much having stunning looks and as they know it, they are always in constant concern of the same.

I must tell you, it was quite different and interesting. Especially the first half regarding the food and everything was having definitely the different theme of the film, however the second half is quite bit regular kinda romantic film. Though, the performances of Lal (Kalidas) and Shweta Menon (Maya) doesn’t let you bore.
Asif Ali who plays Kalidas’ nephew Manu is okay and Mythilli who plays Maya’s room mate Meenaxi is okay too, though she looks quite good in the song featuring her and Manu. Baburaj who plays the cook performs really well, rest of all have nothing much to do.
Well, enjoyed the movie, though cant say it one of the best. Looking for your ”22 Female Kottayam” too.

3 cheers out of 5 from me.

Review: English Vinglish By 70mm Sardar Khan

By 70mm Sardar Khan (Urf Brij)

Whenever  in star cast Name of Sridevi was there, People had gone to watch by her name only as she was different in her own style. But when after long 14 years (Of course Akki starring Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin is not considered as its released lately ) people heard movie starring Sridevi, the reaction of everyone was mixed that how she will do after long retirement but for good actors there is no problem to act after such long time.

When I got the news that the Diva is all ready to make her come back, I was too much excited and when I saw the trailer it increased my excitement and wait for the movie became painful (But yet have to wait, no options.. J :P).

Story:  A quiet, sweet tempered housewife endures small slights from her well educated husband and daughter everyday because of her inability to speak and understand english. (Courtesy to IMDB)

To watch the movie with family is different and enjoyment is also different and really after a long time the good family movie came. All thanks to Gauri Shinde, Sridevi and all crew members.

Director:  Gauri Shinde has done excellent debut as a full film director.( FYI. she has made two short films also) Every scenes were fantastic. She had shown perfect and true Indian family. Places covered in the movie were also best as per movie.

Acting:  Sridevi has done awesome acting. Hats off to her. She acted best in all the part. I can say she shown us true Indian women and what trouble she have in real life. Adil hussain (Shashi’s husband) was commendable. Surprise package was Priya Anand (Radha) who acted very well and was looking amazing. Hope we will see her more in bollywood now on.(She acted in two tamil movies and got a good appraise there.) I specially liked Amitabh bachchan as in guest appearance. He enjoyed the role that we can see in movie.

Story, Screenplay & Music: Story was simple but its screen play was too good. Music was the soul of movie. Amit trivedi never disappoints.

Final words for the movie are, GO TO WATCH THE ORIGINAL INDIAN CINEMA AND PERFECT ACTING.

My rating – 4.2/5
(Go and enjoy Indian movie ride.)

Jack Reacher:  Movie Review

Directed by Christopher Mcquarrie Starring: Tom Cruise & Rosamund Pike

An Open Letter to actor Tom Cruise

Dear Tom,

How r u doing?

Well,  watched the movie Jack Reacher just coz of you were there in the movie. In 90s you have given us many entertaining movies, while we were in college, and hence you stand to be one of the fav Hollywood hero of ours till date.

But look what you have done by selecting wrong projects since a long time to your fan following. War of the Worlds, Collateral, Knight and Day etc. were all okay kinda films. Still went to watch Jack Reacher coz you were there, our poster boy.

The movie, based on Lee Child‘s novel,  is about a soldier who leaves the army and gets some unknown identity and is missing since 2 years. One of his enemy is caught for killing half a dozen innocent people, who wants to meet Jack Reacher, and so you are back in the city. Is the person innocent or why has he killed those people?

Well, the problem with the film is that most of the suspense gets revealed quite earlier, and rest is predictable. The film doesn’t have much moments to remember it. The film runs quite well till the first half (yes in Hollywood movies too, our cinema owners keep interval to gain popcorn profit), but 2nd half becomes quite ordinary and one leaves the film with unhappy mood.

You have again performed quite well, as you are used to do. Rosamund Pike looks beautiful and does a quite decent job portraying Helen. Alexia Fast as Sandy looks quite hot, has nothing much to do in the film though.

Hoping to get better films from you now onwards (hell, I show Van Helsing in the list… yuck..!!!)

2.5 cheers from 5 from me.

Movie Review: Table No. 21

Directed by Aditya Dutt Starring: Paresh Rawal, Rajiv Khandelwal & Tina Desae

An Open Letter to actor Rajiv Khandelwal

Dear Rajiv,

Hope you are doing fine. How about your film Peter to Gaya Kaam Se..? We are still waiting for it.

First of all, congratulations your work is appreciated in this film too. And for different gener lover filmi freaks, your presence in the film is being an assurance of a good script in the film. Yeah, you still have been a good selector of scripts, be it Aamir, Sound Track or Shaitaan it’s always something different.

Ok, back to film, the story is about Vivan (you) and Siya (beautiful Tina Desae) who are married since 5 years and are on free holiday to Fiji, sponsored by Khan (Paresh Rawal) who has different plans for you. He wants you to take part in a game, where you have to answer some questions and have to do some tasks, and can win you whopping 21 crores. Well, soon enough the game turns to be a nightmare for both of you.

Yes, the story is different for bollywood cinema, and nurtured decently by director Aditya Dutt (whose previous films, I haven’t seen yet, but have heard not much positive reviews for sure). The director here does, as mentioned, decent work but doesn’t lift the film at another level for sure.

The film does have some flaws, [READ THE PART WITHIN THIS BRACKET ONLY IF YOU HAVE WATCHED THE FILM, SPOILERS AHEAD]
1. If Khan, just wanted to realize your mistakes of pasts, why does he broadcasts all the things, which can prove him a criminal?
2. If he broadcasts the game, why isn’t police stopping him, though it clearly seems to be a crime.
3. If the game is just for making them realize, why someone at the starting falls from the terrace and dies??!!!
4. Why don’t you, though being so intelligent, doesn’t recall about that ragging incident, though the tasks in the game is so much similar to the tasks you have given to akram while ragging?
[SPOILER ALERT RELEASE :P]

Those flaws could have been averted easily, as they didn’t matter with the story, the screenplay doesn’t pay much attention towards it, which is a bit annoying. Apart from those flaws, the film was very nice, gripping in most of the parts and had fresh feel.

Performances of Paresh Rawal and Tina Desae(who looks hawt!!) was fantastic and your performance is always the cream on the cake, but the one who impresses a lot is the actor (Sorry don’t know the name) who plays Akram in the film. Music by Neeraj Shrivastava was decent, BGM was good, lyrics – nice enough. Story screen play by the duo Sheershak Anand & Shantanu Ray Chibber is different, hoping to see their next movie ‘3G’ soon.

Overall, a decent one time watch for those who like different films.

3 cheers out of 5 from me.

Hoping to see more and more good movies starring you, boss.

MONEY BALL: REVIEW By 70mm’s 72 singh

By 70mm’s 72 singh (Brij)

Yes. Again me after a loooong time. You think this year I will spare you from my reviews then you are wrong. I am starting it again and a better start will be from Movie Moneyball (As Khiladi 786 & Talaash are already written and no need to write now.)

Since from last year this movie was in my lappy and was not touched by me because it looked boring according to me when I overviewed it but movie proved me totally wrong.

Story:  Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to acquire new players. (Courtesy to IMDB)

Watched movie in three segments as wasn’t getting full time but I will advice you not to do like that. Movie is based on true story and it really made me felt sad for Oaklanders. (You will going to now only after watching this movie)

Director  Bennet Miller has worked a lot for this movie that can be noted by seeing his efforts in the movie. Every single frame and scene was very well crafted and worked out. I can say all the scenes were necessary in the movie.

In acting, there is no need to say about Brad Pitt as he always do great work (Hope you don’t want me to name his films!!). Best thing about Brad Pitt is he lives the character of Billy Beane and we feel that its really his story. And surprising factor was Jonah hill. I had seen him in comedy movies or in other crap movies but he did really well in this movie.

So in conclusion I can say movie is sure watch to now from where these calculations started in Base Ball games. Its really amazing to know about it.

My rating – 4.4/5
(Must watch for sports lovers and true story lovers.)
